Cut plane

Clips

Connection type
Tight, assembled with force – for permanent joints.Holds by itself, can be taken apart with some force.Slides easily, works well with sealing tape or glue. For less accurate printers or pipes with large tolerances and ovality.Choose the clearance in mm – fixed, independent of the diameter (negative = interference).0.27 mm diametral clearance = difference of the diameters, i.e. 0.14 mm per side. The presets grow with the clip diameter.

Tips for splitting

Where to cut?

Ideally where the cut face is large and flat and there are no fine details – then the clips have room and the seam hardly shows. A horizontal cut (Z) usually gives two parts that print without supports.

Move the plane with the arrow in the preview; a double click on the model puts it through that spot. Both sides are shown in different colors.

Which clips?

Pins hold by friction and can be taken apart at any time – good for prototypes and parts you want to open. Snap clips flex when inserted and click into place; with force they come apart again. Barbs hold permanently.

More and thicker clips hold more firmly. For snap clips, 5–8 mm diameter and at least 1.2 times that as length is a good start. If the joint is too loose or too tight, adjust the fit.

Printing and assembly

The part with the holes lies on its cut face, the part with the clips cut face up, so the clips print upright without supports. PETG or ASA work better than PLA for durable snap clips.

The combined file (3MF, AMF or OBJ) contains both parts side by side as separate objects; single parts are available as STL, OBJ, PLY or 3MF. Choose the format via the arrow on the download button.
